This Georgian war diary is long, but it makes for excellent reading. No matter what side you take in this conflict, or whether you take a side at all, you will take away something from this piece, something elemental.

Defuse the situation?
Wow, that is heartbreaking reading, especially since I’ve “known” the author virtually for several years. I did email him for news of his and his family’s condition, and was relieved to get an answer (on the forum as well). But I didn’t realize just how harrowing the experience was; I wouldn’t have expected him to write a lengthy mail under those circumstances. Thanks for linking to this!
My heart goes out to George and his family; like many other civilians, he and his family are pawns in a power conflict that is ambiguous and unnecessary.
Like I used to say to my kids when they argued: “I don’t care who started it, I care who stops it!”
